About Alford Family Dentistry
Alford & Alford DDS PA was founded in September of 2003 when Drs. Clay and Marija Alford purchased the established dental practice of retiring Dr. Larry Neal. While we continue the practice's original mission of providing high-quality, conservative dentistry for the entire family, we have incorporated the finest in dental equipment, technology, and current continuing education.
Alford Family Dentistry is currently operated by Dr. Clay Alford. Since the birth of the couple's sons in 2007 and 2010, Dr. Marija has been focused on the care and education of the two boys.
Dr. Clay Alford is a native Wilmingtonian who graduated from John T. Hoggard High School in 1994. He then studied Chemistry at Noth Carolina State University. In 1998, he graduated with highest honors (Summa Cum Laude) and, among other awards, was elected to the prestigous Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Scciety. From 1998 to 2002, Dr. Alford studied dentistry at the Universtiy of North Carolina School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill. In 2002, he graduated with a Doctor of Dental Sugery with Honors degree and was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society, an honor reserved for only the top few graduates each year. Dr. Alford has practiced dentistry in Wilmington since 2002. His professional areas of interest include fixed and removable prosthetics and implant dentistry. Dr. Alford also recently became an authorized Invisalign orthodontic provider. In 2007 and 2010, Dr. Alford was blessed by the birth of his two sons. His personal interests include following collegiate athletics, running, boating, and spending time with his wife and boys.
Dr. Marija Alford also grew up in North Carolina, where she graduated first in her class at Asheboro High School in 1994. She then attended Guilford College where she was a member of the basketball team and was named Academic All-American in her senior season. She graduated with high honors in 1998 and also received the prestigious Clyde A. Milner award which is given to a rising junior whose GPA is among the highest in the class. Dr. Marija also graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery with Honors degree from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in 2002 and was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. She practiced dentistry in Wilmington for five years, and while she now focuses her time on raising her two young children, she does keep her dental license current through numerous continuing education courses. She has also worked part-time following the birth of her children with the Smile North Carolina program which provides dental care to children in their school settings. Dr. Marija's areas of interest include pediatric dentistry and prevention, and in her spare time, she enjoys reading, playing tennis, and spending time on the water with her family.
